Andy began his public service career while in high school, in the 1990s. During his public service career, he has worked for the Florida Forest Service, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, the U.S. Forest Service, and as a law enforcement officer for municipal departments and the State of Florida.
Andy became a police officer in 2001 with the Gainesville Police Department and has been a certified law-enforcement officer since that time. During this time, Andy spent 10 years at the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office as a fire and arson investigator and an accelerant detection canine handler. Andy is still active in public service and serves as the Mayor for the City of Starke, Florida.
Since 2014 Andy has worked as a fire investigator and forensic consultant in the private industry conducting forensic fire origin and cause investigations.
Andy has a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from Flagler College and has had over 2500 hours of training, since 2001, related to fire investigations, fire suppression operations, and law enforcement operations.
Andy is a Certified Fire Investigator with the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI-CFI), a Certified Fire, Arson, Explosion, and Vehicle Fire Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI-CFEI,V) and he is a Certified Marine Investigator with the International Association of Marine Investigators (IAMI-CMI). Throughout his career, Andy has testified numerous times in legal proceedings as to the origin and cause of fire/explosion incidents.
